Characteristics of computer-:

 Importance of computer can be understood by following characteristics of computer -:


1.Speed-:

a computer can perform any kind of calculation at a very high speed. Speed is usually measured in MIPS(millions of instruction per second).A modern computer takes 3 to 4 microsecond (10-6 second)to add numbers of 18 to 20 digits.


2.Memory-:

The storage capacity of the computer is unlimited because of its main and secondary memory s it is capable of storing huge amounts of data. The human being can store data for a limited time but a computer can store data for a long time.


3.Accuracy-:

Computer performs every operation with equal and high accuracy. The error can occur in a computer due to error in instruction given by the user, inaccurate and inconsistent data or defective system design.


4.Automation-:

Computer performs all of its tasks automatically. It means once a task is started. The computer can proceed on its own till completion without any human intervention. (Characteristics of a computer)

5.Versatility-:

A computer is a versatile machine so it can perform any work ranging from simple (such as adding a few numbers) to complex (such as weather forecasting).


6.Diligence-:

Diligence means equal devotion at all times to its all work. The computer is an electronic device, it does not feel tired and distraction after working for a long time. Unlike a human being, a computer is free from monotony, tiredness lack of concentrate, etc.


7.Repetitiveness-: 

Once the set of instruction is permanently feeding to the computer then it repeats the execution again and again as required. (Characteristics of the computer)


8.Reliability-: 

Due to huge memory capacity and high precision accuracy the output generated by the computer is very reliable. Inconsistent, incorrect and unreliable programs and data makes the computer erroneous and unreliable.


1.No Intelligence-:

A computer is a machine .they have to be instructed about each and every step which they have to perform i.e, each and every  task to be a performance by them should be given in detail.


2.No Feeling-: Computer cannot make a decision on its own, one has to program the computer to take any action if some conditions occur. (Limitation of a computer)

3. A computer can not work on itself, it requires a set of instructions to be provided else the computer is a machine only can not do anything.


4. Unlike human being , computers, can not learn by experience.


5. Computer is dependent on electricity to work.

Hello friends, today we learn about gray code and bcd code in it, so let's start ASCII CODE AND EBCDIC CODE       ASCII CODE-:   ASCII stands for “ American standard code for information interchanges “ , It has become a world standard alphanumeric code for micro-computer. It is a 7-bit code and it can represent maximum 2 7 =128 different characters. These character represent 26 uppercase letter (A-Z), 26 lowercase letter (a-z), 10 digit(0-9), 33 special symbol character and 33 control characters. The 7 bit of this code are divided into two parts. First 3 bit of left are called zone bits and next four bits of right side are called numeric bits. ASCII CODE AND EBCDIC CODE  An 8 bits version of ASCII code is also available , which is know as USACC-II or ASCII-8. They can represent maximum of 256 characters.
