Fifth generation of computer | features and characteristic of 5th generation of computers

Fifty generations of computer-: In fifth generation very powerful and compact computers become available at a cheaper rate. The concept of artificial intelligence were used in this generation. Several new types of exciting applications like E-comers, Virtual library, artificial intelligence, multimedia, etc. emerged during the period. The characteristic features of fifth-generation computers are as follow:

(i) Use of parallel processing-: In this generation new integrated circuits SLSI/ULSI(super/ultra large scale integrated circuits) were used. That is also called parallel processing.

(ii) Use of artificial intelligence-: The computer of this generation has used the concept of artificial intelligence. These computers have the capacity to think and reason which can be used to solve problems where human intelligence is required.

(iii) Use of sound in input/output media-: This generation computers accept human voice as input to computers and these computers have the capacity to link and reason which can be used to solve the problem where human intelligence is required.

(iv) Use of VLSI-: Use of super conductor’s technology allows the flow of electricity with very less or even no resistance, greatly improving the information flow speed.

(v) Use of Internet-: Internet is a huge repository of information on almost every topic imaginable. All over the world people can search the internet for information, add new information and exchange views on different topics.

(vi) Different sizes of computer-: In this generation of computers, computers are available in different sizes as user requirements.

(vii) Evolution of multimedia-: Multimedia is any combination of text, audio (sound) Graphics art, Animation and video delivered to you by computer.

EXAMPLE-: Laptop, Palmtop, Notebook, PDA, etc.

ASCII CODE AND EBCDIC CODE

Hello friends, today we learn about gray code and bcd code in it, so let's start ASCII CODE AND EBCDIC CODE       ASCII CODE-:   ASCII stands for “ American standard code for information interchanges “ , It has become a world standard alphanumeric code for micro-computer. It is a 7-bit code and it can represent maximum 2 7 =128 different characters. These character represent 26 uppercase letter (A-Z), 26 lowercase letter (a-z), 10 digit(0-9), 33 special symbol character and 33 control characters. The 7 bit of this code are divided into two parts. First 3 bit of left are called zone bits and next four bits of right side are called numeric bits. ASCII CODE AND EBCDIC CODE  An 8 bits version of ASCII code is also available , which is know as USACC-II or ASCII-8. They can represent maximum of 256 characters.
